Port and Promenade Bratislava
The port project is the result of an architectural competition in the summer of 2011. The primary purpose of the project is to reconstruct the passenger port building itself, improve services, increase passenger comfort and create a new pavilion for tourists on the Vienna – Bratislava river route. The hotel on the first and second floors is also closely connected with the function of transport and tourism. It will ensure comfort for visitors arriving by boat and extend their stays in Bratislava.
An attractive terrace will be created for the public and visitors to the capital on the roof of the renovated building, from which, in addition to the Danube, it will be possible to observe Bratislava Castle, bridges and the historical old town.
The project of the new Bratislava Promenade addresses the are a between the old and the new bridge and uses the generally known 1st level of the promenade = the level of the Bratislava „Korzo“. It adds a new 2nd level of the promenade = a new level at the embankment of the Danube 4 m below the first one and in addition adds a 3rd level of the promenade = it creates a promenade on the water on floating interconnected pontoons.
It widens the promenade and creates a new street of Bratislava on the Danube on 11 interconnected pontoons, which, in connection with the primary task getting people as close to thewater as possible, eliminates the negative issue associated with the Danube level fluctuating to a height of 8 meters. The promenade on the water is thus at an ideal distance to the waterally earround because it responds to it continuously and at the same time expands the possibility of mooring and landing boats along its entire length. The biggest advantage of the whole solutionis the construction of the promenade on pontoons outsidethe city and thus the elimination of the negative effects of construction work in the very center of Bratislava. A simple mooring system allows you to bring the entire 3rd level of the promenade, which has already been completed along the Danube, and to anchor the individua lpontoons to the prepared places in a relatively shorttime, or to divide them into stages.
Later, in cooperation with SVP š.p. were added to the Promenade so-called Danube stairs. They form the natural outlet of the Promenade at Propeller in the entire width of the square of L. Štúr and willl ead people directly to the river. The stairs will allow pedestrians to move towards the planned second and third levels of the Promenade and will also be the gateway to the Bratislava walks to the city center for tourists from passenger ships. They will become a strong meeting and communication point of the Bratislava Promenade.
